Edwards late to Lowe's, replaces Blaney in No. 99

CONCORD, N.C. -- Carl Edwards didn't make it back to Lowe's Motor Speedway in time for Saturday night's UAW-GM Quality 500, so Dave Blaney started the race in the No. 99 Roush Racing Ford.

Edwards arrived at Charlotte shortly after the green flag and hopped into the No. 99 around lap 24 of the race. He didn't leave Texas until after 4 p.m. ET, which made it impossible to fly to LMS in time for the 7:20 p.m. green flag. He arrived at the track

Edwards finished ninth in Saturday afternoon's Silverado 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, but because of nine caution flags, the race took an hour and 54 minutes.

Edwards qualified 10th for the Nextel Cup race, but because of the driver change, Blaney had to drop to the rear of the field for the start.
