NASCAR.COM's Lee Montgomery reviews Saturday night's action at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Jimmie Johnson completed the season sweep at Charlotte, but he was not the dominant car. Kasey Kahne led more than 200 laps before a right-front tire went flat on his No. 9 Dodge.

Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon kept their lofty positions in the Nextel Cup Series standings despite having multiple problems through the evening.

Busch leads the standings by 24 points over Dale Earnhardt Jr. with Gordon in third.

Garage Update

NASCAR.COM's Marty Smith says Nextel Cup points leader Kurt Busch glanced the wall during Friday's final practice for Saturday's race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, but his No. 97 Ford suffered little damage.

Elliott Sadler was fastest in the final practice. Also, Jamie McMurray will go to a backup car Saturday after a crash in Friday's early practice.

NASCAR.COM's Ryan Smithson goes over the action from Bud Pole Qualifying for the UAW-GM 500. Ryan Newman set a new track record, but there were plenty of surprises in the session.

Kurt Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. barely managed to crack the top 25, while Dale Jarrett and Ricky Rudd were saddled with provisionals.
