DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Brett Bodine will have his hands full during Sunday's Daytona 500.
The crew chief for Bodine's No. 11 Ford, Mike Hillman, quit the team 90 minutes prior to the race. Bodine already wears the hat of driver and owner for his single-car team and now will have to make decisions and negotiate his way through race strategy as his own crew chief through the 200 laps.
Hillman has been with Bodine since the mid-point of the 2000 season and is believed to be moving to the No. 14 Pontiac team owned by A.J. Foyt with Stacy Compton as the driver.
Before coming to Bodine, Hillman crew chiefed for Greg Sacks, Robby Gordon, Rich Bickle and Dick Trickle, to name a few, since 1993.
