CONCORD, N.C. -- Kevin Lepage will drive the No. 37 Brewco Motorsports Chevrolet Saturday in the CarQuest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, substituting for injured driver Jeff Purvis.
Team owner Clarence Brewer Jr. said that Lepage's appointment to the seat is strictly a one-race deal.
"With Jeff's condition continuing to improve, and after consultation with the team, sponsors and Purvis' family, it was decided that the race team should move forward," said Brewer through team spokesman Dennis Punch. "After the weekend we'll evaluate where everything is, and make another statement next week."
Purvis continues to improve following a collision with Greg Biffle in last Sunday's Stacker 2 200 at Nazareth Speedway. The accident knocked both drivers unconscious, and sent Purvis to intensive care with multiple injuries.
"Jeff's condition continues to improve," Punch said. "I spoke with Margo (Purvis' fiancée) at about 10:15. He had a restless night, but Margo said he's beginning to become more alert as time goes by."
Punch said an announcement concerning the future of the No. 37 Timberwolf team would be made early next week.
